Google announced a new version of its custom-built AI chips, the TPU v5e, which is optimized for genAI and large language models. This chip is designed to train large models but also efficiently serve content from those models.
They also announced a new tool called SynthID that can watermark AI-generated images. This technology alters a digital image file in a way that is invisible to human eyes, and is designed to remain intact after an image is altered or tampered with.
Google also rolled out AI updates to its suite of office software and security tools. For example, the company unveiled an AI-powered tool that can port databases from Oracle to an open-source version, a notoriously difficult task.

Fox Sports is using generative AI from Google Cloud to quickly search footage from its archived games and produce new content for TV, social and marketing.
This collaboration expands on their previous work together to build Fox Sports' Intelligent Asset Service (IAS), which uses Google Cloud's video search and machine learning capabilities to help the sports network automate managing media assets.
