📰WHAT’S NEW!

  • IBM Research has unveiled a groundbreaking analog AI chip that demonstrates remarkable efficiency and accuracy in performing complex computations for deep neural networks (DNNs).

  • The chip is composed of 64 analog in-memory compute cores, each of which integrates a crossbar array of synaptic unit cells alongside compact analog-to-digital converters, making it incredibly efficient and accurate.

  • The chip achieved an accuracy of 92.81 percent on the CIFAR-10 image dataset, an unprecedented level of precision for analog AI chips.

  • Nvidia's stock price has more than doubled in the past year, and is now valued at over $1 trillion. This is largely due to the company's leading position in the AI chip market.

  • In fiscal 2023, the company's data center revenue (which includes AI) grew 41% year-over-year. Analysts expect this growth to continue, and for Nvidia's AI business to more than double in size by fiscal 2024.

  • The company has invested in at least 12 AI startups so far in 2023, including some of the most high-profile companies in the space. This investment strategy is aimed at helping Nvidia stay ahead of the curve.

  • The challenge from the Biden-Harris administration was held at the 31st annual DEF CON this weekend and featured models from Anthropic, Cohere, Google, Hugging Face, Meta, Nvidia, OpenAI, and Stability.

  • Red-teamers were able to simulate an adversary and test the LLMs for a variety of harms, including generating harmful content, spreading misinformation, and creating deepfakes.

  • The individual who had the highest number of points in the GRT Challenge won a high-end Nvidia GPU (which sells for over $40,000). The challenge was open to anyone, regardless of experience or background.
