🔔Navy Sounds Alarm on Security Risks of Generative AI

• The Navy is warning that generative AI and large language models could create operational security risks, and would require human review.

• The Navy’s acting Chief Information Officer Jane Rathbun said LLMs present an operational security risk because they save every prompt they are given. Rathbun said these tools must be verified and validated by humans.

• The Navy is still exploring how to use generative AI and LLMs, but is encouraging other branches of the Defense Department to do the same.

• Oracle has partnered with Cohere, an AI provider, to train, build, and deploy large-language models on the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) service.
